Female-owned and -led Kula is opening its first retail storefront and will be San Diego’s first and only all vegan, all gluten-free retail ice cream scoop shop.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – August 03, 2021 KULA to host the official grand opening at its new headquarters in the Sorrento Valley neighborhood of San Diego. The grand opening and ribbon cutting is slated for Friday, August 6th at 12:00 pm. The opening day store hours will be 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Kula will offer 12 flavors of vegan ice cream available as scoops in either cups or for an additional charge upgrade to have it served in a waffle, sugar, or cake cone. An assorted variety of flavors will also be available in pints. Each scoop will be topped with a house made waffle cookie. Not only is the entire shop gluten-free and vegan, but the ice cream flavors are crafted with different nut and seed bases to accommodate different preferences and allergies.

“‘Kula’ is a Sanskrit word used by the yoga community to denote inclusion and belonging. So for me, a scoop shop was always in the plan,” says Founder and Owner, Libby Lefanowicz. “It’s a place for the community to get together and enjoy a decadent and delicious scoop of ice cream. For many of our biggest fans, this is the first time they can enjoy any flavor they want and get it on a waffle cone because of allergies, dietary preferences, or restrictions.”
Libby continues, “We hope to be a sweet retreat for our local businesses, customers, friends, and partners and that everyone feels welcome in our doors.”
