Community Spotlight: Valerie Perez

To us, Kula means community. This month, we are featuring Valerie Perez. Over the last couple of years, Valerie has been diagnosed with many chronic illnesses, including Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Currently, she is raising money for a service dog that would help her navigate her daily life and manage her symptoms, and regain her independence. From Valerie: "My diet restrictions are what led me to find Kula. Your guys’ chocolate lava flavor is my favorite! It feels so good to know there are brands out there that can accommodate my allergies. I haven’t eaten a waffle cone in years and when I was able to finally have one at the Leucadia farmers market, I just about cried tears of joy...This experience definitely aligns with the brand name meaning 'inclusion' and 'belonging.'"
