Kula Desserts, a Dairy-Free, Gluten-free, and Vegan Ice Cream company in San Diego, CA is looking for both Full Time and Part Time (On-Call) Events Staff who can start in the Spring / Summer.

 

We are looking for an individual to represent Kula Desserts at festivals, events, and farmers’ markets by selling our vegan, gluten-free ice cream, engaging in conversations with market-goers, networking with local vendors, and educating people about our brand. Perks include a fun work environment and free ice cream!

 

Shifts will vary: we usually need help on weekend events (Fri/Sat/Sun). For more hours, we always need help with basic kitchen work during the weekdays. 

 

Our ideal candidate has a great attitude, is outgoing, kind, motivated, hard-working, and can work independently. This is an external and very customer facing position. We are looking for someone with a great attitude and a passion for food is a plus.  Must be able to lift 80 to 100 lbs occasionally (aka lift heavy coolers into a car). 

 

Event Responsibilities:

• Preparing market, vehicle, and ice cream for sale

• Loading up market supplies and driving to market location

• Unloading market supplies at farmers markets and setting up the market booth

• Preparing and maintaining clear records during market hours 

• Interacting with customers, networking with vendors, and distributing community outreach materials

• SELL AMAZING DAIRY FREE ICE CREAM!

• Take cash payments and credit card on company ipad and card reader

• Market booth breakdown and driving from market back to the kitchen

• Unloading market supplies/restocking at the space

• Completing the market data and financial records

• Post-market clean-up

 

Optional Kitchen Responsibilities:

• Hand-stick labels

• Wash dishes

• Make waffle cones

• Assist kitchen staff with other duties

 

Qualifications:

• Experience working farmers markets or festivals is not required but is helpful

• Strong attention to detail

• Excited about doing a great job and want to excel in your work

• Want to help grow a brand/business

• Basic math and computer skills

• Ability to problem solve and work through issues independently

• Available to work evenings and weekends

 

Starts: ASAP

Hours: Will vary, majority of our events are on weekends and evenings, but we are flexible and willing to work with your schedule

Pay: Starts at $15.50 / hour with opportunities for commission during probationary training period, with an increase to $18.00 / hour with opportunities for commission after training.
